Manchester City’s title hopes suffered a major blow as Liverpool gained some revenge for Sunday’s League Cup final defeat with a deserved win at Anfield.
City started the second half brighter and took the lead in the 49th minute when Reds keeper Simon Mignolet failed to deal with a cross shot by Fernandinho.
“I don’t know what the starting XI will be yet, but one player who I’m sure will start is Raheem Sterling”, the manager said, according to PremierLeague.com.
“I prefer to lose the title than to lose my words”, Pellegrini said.
The Reds were beaten on penalties at Wembley on Sunday but responded by putting in a strong performance to record a comprehensive win over Manuel Pellegrini’s side – putting a dent in the visitors’ title aspirations in the process. Next season Pep Guardiola will find that it’s more rainy in Manchester than it is here or in Munich.
“We have to climb now and get points as we have so many important games in the next few weeks and only two tournaments left, but they’re the most important tournaments”. “It was really good from the first second”.
“We didn’t deserve to be 2-0 down at half-time but from the beginning I saw our team was not fresh”, he added.
“We have no points to waste in our time”. We need to make it as hard as possible. Liverpool continued to hunt for goals and Hart had to be at his very best shortly after the third goal. It’s not always a game – also a hard session and you have to say, ‘OK, stop, next day.’ That’s not easy for him or flawless for us. They took the cup, now they want the points we want to keep.
Liverpool are yet to win a league game at Anfield in 2016 and have picked up the same amount of points in front of their own fans as relegation-threatened pair Newcastle United and Swansea City. “We have less than three days to recover, we have to play on Saturday at 3pm so we are going to see the best team that can start on Saturday”.

Liverpool created enough problems for City with their pace and one could tell there was a huge sense of belief in the side brought by Klopp, who congratulated every player on the pitch after the game.
