Liverpool paid AC Milan £16m last summer but Raiola is acutely aware there are no permanent takers for even less than half that figure at present and wants Rodgers to think again.

Mario Balotelli’s Liverpool transfer saga has taken yet another twist, with reports from Gazzetta dello Sport claiming that Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano has pleaded with his compatriot to join him at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Balotelli has reportedly been earmarked as a star loan signing but Liverpool can expect to pay 60 percent of his wages (roughly £42,000 a week) to ship him out for a year.

The Puma evoPOWER are a special edition boot, inspired by Balotelli’s haircut, but hopefully not his proficiency in front of goal, and the colour’s of the Italian national team. Their coffers will be boosted should they make it into the group stages and a late bid for Balotelli can’t be ruled out if they do.
