Liverpool turn on the style at redeveloped Anfield

Liverpool will be looking to get back to their winning ways when they host defending Premier League champions Leicester City at Anfield.

“We were strong physically, flexible, quick, creative”.

Mane has been in fine form for Liverpool since being snapped up from Southampton earlier this summer and the Senegal global has now established himself as a key man under Jurgen Klopp.

“It is good, it is exciting, we go from the Premier League to Champions League to EFL Cup, and it’s good”.

Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane put Jurgen Klopp’s side two goals ahead as they played at home for the first time this season and for the first time since expanding Anfield’s capacity by 8,500 to 54,000.

Klopp wanted the players to take the credit and explained why he reacted so angrily when the Kop began to sing his name in the second half.

“I love these players”, he said.

“It was good – the whole 98 minutes was a good performance in a wonderful atmosphere”.

Liverpool celebrated the opening of the redeveloped Main Stand in the best way possible as they blew away Claudio Ranieri’s team in spectacular fashion.

“That is an easy deal”.

“We were waiting for this kind of football because it was their first match at home in front of a new stand”.

There was a feeling of freshness in the hosts’ play despite the interruption of an global break and with Daniel Sturridge restored to a central striking role – Philippe Coutinho was left on the bench after a long trip back from Brazil – Liverpool had someone who could stretch the champions’ tight defence. Fortunately, we play every three days now; there is a new adventure in the Champions League and we have to recharge the battery, look how Liverpool won – with great spirit – and restore our way. It’s something that depends on each other – it’s nice but not necessary.

“(Against) Arsenal (in the 0-0 draw) we should have had a penalty, they should have had a man sent off.

Liverpool’s defensive errors persisted today, but with two midfielders in our back four we did very well.
