Lizard adds to Formula One’s track menagerie

Renault has spent a further three engine development tokens on its power unit for the Singapore Grand Prix, however with only one upgraded unit available this weekend, it has been given to Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

As the drivers began to make their way back to the pits, Max Verstappen came across the giant lizard sitting in the middle of the track, narrowly avoiding it.

However, it has now been determined those three drivers will all use it from final practice in Singapore on Saturday.

“There’s a dinosaur on the track, a giant lizard, I’m not kidding”, he could be heard nervously babbling to his engineer over his radio.

The incident triggered plenty of amusement among fellow drivers and racing enthusiasts.

There have also been a number of human incursions, including one at last year’s Singapore race when a lone intruder ambled across the floodlit track midway through the race and then strolled by the metal fences as cars came past.
