All other schools in the town remain open with increased police presence.

According to Huntsville ISD, Huntsville High School received a message this morning shortly after school started that appears to be a Bomb Threat.

DCPS officials said the threat was received by phone.

“The message then stated that in addition to the bombs, firearms would be used after the bombs”, she said in the statement.

Scannell said she’d heard that students at the high school were as upset as administrators over the incidents.

Scannell said the note indicated a bomb would go off in the building. “Despite the fact that this was a widespread issue, we take these threats very seriously”.

Both Methuen and Tewksbury schools received email bomb threats on Wednesday that Solomon said were “almost identical”.

The release states that while the threat has not been proven credible, school officials chose to cancel classes and close the campus for the day as a precaution. While the officers were searching the premises, the school underwent a “no one in, no one out” policy.

Students and staff are safe and returned to their normal activities, DCPS said. Once police cleared the scene, McDevitt students returned to the middle school to finish out the school day.

She declined to release the student’s age or grade level.
