The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and North Charleston Police Department are sending several deputies and police officers to Dallas, Texas, to show respect for the five police officers who were killed in the line of duty last week, following a peaceful protest.

Members of the Albuquerque Police Honor Guard are leaving the Albuquerque Sunport at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday to attend the funerals of the fallen Dallas police officers.
In the City of Hornell, there is a planned memorial service for the slain officers.
“Anytime another officer falls, we lose a brother or sister, and it’s just like losing a family member”, explained Lt. Paul Robeson, who oversees the Honor Guard.
“We start with conversations, honest conversations, each other and our stories and start to minimize the hatred going on across the aisles”, Chief Chaplain of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police John Welch said.
A funeral service for Thompson, a newlywed, was held Wednesday afternoon in Corsicana, south of Dallas.
“It could have easily been one of my deputies, it could have been one of my friends, it could have been me”, Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden said. The Mount Pleasant Police Department also posted a picture on Twitter of some of its officers in Dallas.
Detective Aisha DiLello, one of the two Honor Guard members going to Dallas, said now it is their turn to reciprocate.

“When the gunfire started, the demonstrators ran for cover while the Dallas police officer ran to the fire”, Sciullo said.
