The new device is also claimed to have the “best battery life ever in an iPhone”, enhanced stereo speakers, and is supposedly the first “water and dust resistant” smartphone from Apple.

“It’s like four times bigger than the iPhone 6 for us at the pre-order stage”, T-Mobile CEO John Legere said in a Periscope broadcast on Monday night. T-Mobile’s preorders from September 9 through September 12 were almost four times the level of the next most popular iPhone, and are continuing to be strong, the statement said.
Analyst Trip Chowdhry at Global Equities Research said that strength in T-Mobile’s iPhone 7 preorders can be extrapolated to all the carriers worldwide.
“[The iPhone 7] has gone on to shatter all previous iPhone pre-order records at T-Mobile”.
Apple will not be releasing the first weekend shipment figures for iPhone 7, a departure from its long-standing practice. The strong demand for the new iPhone 7 reported by wireless carriers has pushed up the technology giant’s stock.
Neither Verizon nor AT&T, the two largest wireless carriers in the US, had released figures for iPhone 7 pre-orders as of this morning.
While the new iPhone ships with a Lightning dongle and a pair of Lightning wired earbuds, Chen concludes that wireless earphones – like Apple’s new AirPods – are the easiest workaround for the iPhone 7. The weekend pre-orders up surged threefold versus those for iPhone 6.
It’s also not known if Touch ID will be built into the front of the phone somehow or if it’ll be moved to another location, like the power button or the back of the phone, as we’ve seen Android phones do. Apple has launched a wireless Bluetooth-enabled AirPods, priced $159 for the new smartphones. The carrier does not say whether that is a new record for the iPhone.

Customers will receive their new iPhones starting September 16. There’s nothing like a little friendly fire to boost the competition.
