Former Niners and current Minnesota Vikings offensive lineman Alex Boone, former 49ers and current University of MI head coach Jim Harbaugh, legendary Niners wide receiver Jerry Rice and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees were all steadfast in their belief that Kaepernick went about expressing himself in the wrong way (you can read about it here, here, here and here).

Kaepernick’s protest and comments come within days of the start of the college football season with a large slate of HBCU football games included.

Kaepernick has refused to stand during the national anthem during the Niners’ three preseason games this summer, telling NFL Media’s Steve Wyche that his decision is based on perceived societal wrongdoings against African-Americans and minorities in the U.S.

He said he will stand again when the country represents people the way it should, and specifically cited police brutality as an example of something that has to change in the United States. “I’m going to continue to stand with the people that are being oppressed”.

Meanwhile, Colin Kaepernick is also involved in yet another drama.

Most of the videos of people burning Kaepernick jerseys are laced with expletives directed toward Kaepernick.

Responding to Kaepernick’s actions, the Gold Star mother said, “My son’s body lay in a street after an IED blew up the vehicle he was fighting in”.

“He has a right to sit on his butt during the national anthem”, Mr Huckabee said. Brown has been outspoken on social issues for decades.

NFL icon Jim Brown, who played in the 1950s and 1960s, told the NFL Network that what is important is talking about the issues of the country, not Kaepernick himself. Ask them how their heart feels when they hear the national anthem being sung. Alex Boone of the Minnesota Vikings, a former teammate of Kaepernick’s, said “It’s hard for me, because my brother was a Marine, and he lost a lot of friends over there”. “I’m a big Blaine Gabbert fan now”, he said. And I think our job, especially with the whole Kaepernick deal, it’s our job to document and report the game. That doesn’t make sense to me.
