With the Democratic convention underway this week, Trump’s lead is likely to decrease as Clinton should receive a similar boost after officially accepting her party’s nomination on Thursday.

Donald Trump’s running mate Mike Pence joined him before hundreds of veterans at the VFW Convention and both declared their mission to improve services for vets and reform the Veterans Administration.
Trump opened his speech by slamming the Democrats’ decision to fire Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the Florida congresswoman embroiled in the Democratic National Committee email leak who will stepping down from her party chairmanship at the end of the week.
During the Republican primary, Trump said that McCain “was not a hero”, despite the fact that he spent over five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.
“I stand here today as proof you can live a normal and empowered life with mental illness”, she said, before breaking into a performance of her song “Confident”. “It’s like she’s trying to sweep it under the rug”. It shows a majority of Republicans to be behind their nominee but with a good number of holdouts, Democrats more solidly behind theirs, and independents split but more of them taking the view that Clinton is more qualified.
Gallup’s new numbers on Monday – 38 per cent favorable and 57 per cent unfavorable – are also unprecedented over the course of Clinton’s political career.
Earlier Monday night, Trump addressed supporters in Winston-Salem.
“I believe the United States of America is an exceptional nation with capabilities that no other country comes close to matching, and we have the world’s greatest military”. You didn’t hear it. Together, they were enough to shift the average in Trump’s favor.
“Lock her up!” people shouted. That includes retired Gen. John Allen, a former deputy commander of U.S. Central Command, who endorsed Clinton on Monday. “I have no doubt that she is the leader we need at this time to keep our country safe”. Clinton attracts the support of only 11 per cent of this demographic, while four per cent say they could change their minds.
Trump’s remarks got a rousing reception from this crowd of veterans.

Trump has suggested that the United States should abandon its obligations under North Atlantic Treaty Organisation for mutual defense if nations don’t provide the minimum financial obligations. Women between the age of 45 and 54 still go for Clinton over Trump, 42 percent to 38 percent.
