Heat index value: 107-degree heat index value to peak at about 2 p.m.

The National Weather Service forecasts a 20 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms after noon Tuesday.

Thursday and Friday: Thursday is expected to stay sunny and hot with highs around 102 degrees.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected tonight, along with a chance of showers and thunderstorms into the overnight hours. The low will be around 75.

27 Storm Track meteorologist Brian Olson said Wednesday should be mostly to partly sunny, hot and humid with a high of 89, then more of the same on Thursday with a high of 90 and a head index near 100.

The break comes after five 101-degree days August 3 through 7, and temperatures are expected to continue to reach at least 102 until the cold front moves in, said Jesse Moore, National Weather Service meteorologist. The heat index may rise to 103.

Highs should reach the mid-90s this afternoon once the sun breaks through the clouds, forecasters say. There is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 87, the weather service said.

“The front should also bring some much needed rainfall in the form of showers and possible thunderstorms on Wednesday”.
