The material that was found will also lead to two more posthumous Seuss books, according to the release. A deck of alphabet flashcards, illustrated with the hallmark whimsy of the author, was found, alongside the unpublished manuscript about the kids at the pet store, in a box by Theodor Seuss Geisel’s widow, Audrey Geisel, and the author’s assistant, Claudia Prescott, when preparing the Geisel house in San Diego for renovation in 2013. In October 2013 his widow, Audrey Geisel, unearthed a box of his discarded sketches, and discovered in it a half-finished story called “The Pet Shop”, accompanied by 16 black-and-white drawings, reports The New York Times.

The book features the siblings from One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.

Its discovery and planned publication was revealed in February. His final book before his death, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” was published in 1990.

Dr. Seuss, whose real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel, died in 1991 after writing and illustrating more than 44 children’s books. “Ted loved and had pets himself, as a young boy on up through adulthood, and that makes the wonderful excitement and buzz for this new book all the more special”, said Susan Brandt, president, licensing and marketing of Dr. Seuss Enterprises. The squares of paper typically affixed to illustrations with a story’s text had come loose, so it was unclear where the words should be placed in the recovered manuscript. Seuss would type the text and tape it to his illustrations as he worked, typing new rhymes and taping over them as he went.
