Long plays by Miller, Langford help Bears past Rams 37-13

The big story in St. Louis isn’t the addition of Nick Foles. The second time was Sunday as he connected on only 17 of 36 passes for 200 yards, hitting the 200-mark after the game was well out of reach.

Foles overthrew receivers several times, failed to locate open men and seemed a bit anxious in the pocket. Left guard Matt Slauson again played center and the Bears stuck with the same line for the third straight week.

“The way we are trending, I like the way the guys are going about their business”, Fox said.

They might as well be a 1,000-piece jigsaw to me. “He missed a couple throws and had a couple drops”. “You look at the past week and right now we’re looking at the Rams, so it’s a week-to-week thing”. Foles has thrown only one TD pass in the last four games and the Rams rank near the bottom of the National Football League in offense and passing offense. If they are able to do that then this could make out for a very good game. He finished the game 19-24 for 258 yards, three touchdowns and his highest quarterback rating in his career, 151.0.

Even with his struggles coach Fisher says the team is not considering making a change at quarterback. That’s how he is and it’s real. “They just want to get you back healthy”. You can tell by how knowledgeable he is with running the ball and even his understanding of pass protection.

“I think we probably clicked as well as we have all season long, in a short week, on the road, against an NFC opponent, which we hadn’t done yet”, Fox said Monday, after the Bears had ended a 10-game losing streak within the NFC.

The past few weeks nobody has really talked about it because the Rams have gotten their wins the old fashioned way with great defense and a power running game led by Todd Gurley. The running back, filling in for the injured Matt Forte, had seven catches for 109 yards and 73 yards on 20 carries. Alshon Jeffery was taken out of the gameplan by the Rams cover-2 shell against him and Martellus Bennett was limited, but Adam Gase’s offense still got the job done.

The defense achieved it without its best player.

I’m not trying to pick at scabs. Cutler looks like a completely different quarterback in Gase’s system and his play this year has been what Bears fan have been waiting for ever since he arrived in Chicago.

The Chicago Bears tight end with the 11.6-yard career average per reception got a rare chance to show off his speed and elusive qualities on an 87-yard score that was one of two plays St. Louis coach Jeff Fisher called “backbreakers” in a 37-13 victory on Sunday. Hoping Welker would improve their NFL-worst third-down conversion rate, the Rams still were 4-for-14 on third down Sunday. So, it’s a bunch of frontrunners; 97, he’s a little b*tch, and, um, overall, I’m just happy to kick their ass.

“It was good to get out there and play”. STL drafted only run blocking offensive linemen the past two years, this by choice.

Greg Zuerlein and Robbie Gould exchanged field goals at the end of the first quarter before Miller doubled his personal tally for the night with a two-yard reception in the endzone from Cutler’s pass. When the Patriots and the Giants last faced off in a regular-season game in New Jersey, in 2007, New England was on its way to a flawless regular season.

Cutler checked out of potentially negative plays and put the offense in a position to succeed.

Chicago Bears running back Jeremy Langford runs past St. Louis Rams free safety Rodney McLeod left on his way to an 83-yard touchdown during the second quarter
