“It was awesome”, Cash said.

Dickerson who also had a two-run home run and triple, came through with a two-out single to left field off Mike Montgomery (2-2) to give Tampa Bay its first lead in the seventh inning. The game lasted four hours, 38 minutes. Motter walked, which loaded the bases for Morrison. It marked the first time in his career he was on the mound for a walk-off loss.

Joaquin Benoit inherited a two-run lead to start the Tampa Bay eighth but, after striking out the leadoff hitter, surrendered two soft singles that put the tying runs on base.

However, Seattle manager Scott Servais said after the game that the injury was not to the Achilles tendon. “He understands that that’s going to help us win games, and fortunately for us, him being down there won us a ball game”. “We’ll just come in (Wednesday) and see how I feel”.

The Rays were able to turn to Andriese (6-0) for 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief Wednesday, throwing 39 pitches with the ability to go much longer as necessary.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Snell will make another start for the Rays next week in Cleveland.

Walker allowed four runs and three hits, while Tampa Bay’s Jake Odorizzi gave up five runs and eight hits in 5 2-3 innings. After giving up the home run to Cruz, the left-hander did not give up another hit and struck out six of the 11 batters he faced.

“It’s something I’ve been dealing with”, Longoria said.

Vincent pitched 2 2/3 innings; Vidal Nuno pitched two innings; Cishek went 1 1/3 innings.

Dae-Ho Lee paced a balanced attack with an RBI single in a three-run first inning and a two-run double in the fourth.

Seattle are 6-2 in their last 8 games on astroturf and are 2-8 in Paxton’s last 10 road starts.

Tampa Bay lefty Blake Snell, the Shoreline native, gave up five runs in 3 1/3 innings but just one was earned.

TAMPA BAY: The Rays have won five of their last six games overall and four of their last five games versus American League West rivals. Open seats for Friday night’s game against San Francisco will be available for $5 with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting the Pulse Victims Fund. “It happened in that last at-bat and it’s a day-to-day thing”.

“Getting a win today was huge”, Paxton said. “I don’t have a whole lot (of news) right now.”…

In the seventh inning, the Mariners threatened to take the lead, but Chris Iannetta was left on third and they continued to have issues knocking in those runs.
