Longtime aide Huma Abedin like ‘second daughter’ to Clinton
Huma Abedin, a close aide to presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, announced in the midst of the campaign Monday that she was separating from husband Anthony Weiner following new revelations that he “sexted” another woman. It was the same attitude Abedin adopted after her husband’s 2011 misstep.

“I only worry for the country in that Hillary Clinton was careless and negligent in allowing Weiner to have such close proximity to highly classified information”, Trump said.
Trump also said the episode was an issue of national security. “Who knows what he learned and who he told?”
Weiner quit Congress in 2011 after it discovered that he was sending women sexually explicit messages.
The New York Post was the first to report the latest allegations, in a story that ran on Sunday.
The latest sexting scandal has again affected his political likelihood, with NY1 moving to dump Weiner as a political analyst in the wake of the report.
SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (AP) Longtime Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin has won plaudits for her campaign instincts, her deep-rooted loyalty and her glamorous personal style.
“Your do realize you can see you (r) Weiner in that pic??” the woman replied, according to the Post. That same year, Abedin gave birth to the couple’s son and reportedly sought advice from Clinton.
The Post, which did not completely identify the woman, said she provided 12 selfies from Weiner.
She recently told Vogue about how she juggled the demands of motherhood and a campaign job. The couple’s marital problems worsened after the release in May of a documentary about the scandal that engulfed Weiner’s campaign for mayor of NY in 2013.
Even Clinton’s opponent, Donald Trump, noted Abedin was “making a wise decision” to leave Weiner behind.
He recently refused to answer when asked whether he was still sexting, telling The New York Times Magazine in an interview published August 16: “I’m not going to go down the path of talking about any of that”. In one exchange, on July 31, Weiner allegedly sent her a picture of himself in his underwear with his son sleeping next to him.
Ms Abedin worked on Mrs Clinton’s first, unsuccessful White House bid in 2008 and served as her deputy chief of staff at the US State Department.
A friend of Abedin, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the breakup, said she was with her young son, Jordan, and her family members in the Hamptons during the weekend.
Over the years, many people have scratched their heads about why Hillary Clinton stayed in her marriage to Bill after the Monica Lewinsky scandal and that she did, ultimately, “stand by her man”, notwithstanding what Hillary said in that 1992 60 Minutes interview.
Abedin, 40 and now vice chairwoman of the Clinton Campaign, married Weiner in 2010.
Mr Weiner could not be immediately reached for comment.
Abedin is widely respected in Washington.
