Looks Like Overwatch Is Coming To Consoles

The inclusion of controller support for the PC version, the game’s overall user-friendly interface, and Blizzard‘s European website briefly stating the game was coming to console continue to add fuel to this rumor fire.

Blizzard’s upcoming shooter, Overwatch, is expected by fans to be announced for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at BlizzCon 2015 later this week.

Meanwhile, IGN managed to get one shop to utter the phrase “Overwatch: Origins Edition”.

They’re offering the game for $60, which feels off-doesn’t this seem like a free-to-play game?-but who knows? However, Blizzard does sell other free-to-play games, like Heroes of the Storm, as a physical bundle that typically includes heroes and skins – so it’s possible Overwatch may still be free-to-play.

Blizzard wouldn’t tell Inverse outright if this was true, but it did point our attention to the forthcoming BlizzCon taking place this weekend in Anaheim. Blizzard ultimately filed for the trademark in April 2014, but Innovis registered Overwatch in September 2013.

One last Blizzard-related thing. In past years, the annual celebration of all things related to Blizzard Entertainment has been where the company unveils new products like Hearthstone or, most recently, Overwatch.

There have been a number of hints pop up online regarding a possible console release for the game. It also was the first step in generating buzz that a few of Blizzard’s games could come to consoles.
