With Danny Rand’s story heading to Netflix, Marvel has found the man responsible for the deaths of Rand’s parents in David Wenham, who will portray Harold Meachum on the forthcoming TV series. Harolds daughter Joy and his brother Ward were also rumored last month to be appearing in the series, but theres no official word yet on their involvement. Meachum’s role in Danny’s life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be revealed over the course of Iron Fist’s first season.

Wenham is the third major character cast for the show, joining Game of Thrones alum Finn Jones who plays the title character Danny Rand/Iron Fist. Today brings the news that Lord of the Rings actor David Wenham has been cast as Harold Meachum. “David is capable of displaying raw, visceral strength as well as extremely keen intelligence”, added showrunner Scott Buck.
“This key quality creates a gravitas our series requires as Danny unravels the secrets behind Rand Enterprises”, Loeb said.
Wenham is likely best known to sci-fi and fantasy fans for his roles in The Lord of the Rings and 300, and also co-starred in the BBC mystery drama Top of the Lake. Suddenly and without warning, Meachum turned on his three traveling partners, murdering his business partner Wendell Rand by causing him to fall to his death.
Iron Fist is looking for actors to play Shang-Chi and Steel Serpent, according to casting calls reported by MCU Exchange. Iron Fist will follow Danny Rand returning to the United States after years of studying martial arts in Kun Lun.
