Footage posted to social media shows passengers being evacuated onto the tarmac. In New York, lawmakers such as Senator Chuck Schumer, along with the mayor and governor, have all called for a thorough investigation and reassessment of emergency procedures.

The ensuing bedlam started nearly immediately as people around the caller began to panic and scatter wildly.
LAX was the scene of a real shooting in 2013 when a man opened fire a terminal al building killing a TSA agent and injuring three others.
Pedregon said Monday that police have found no connection between the two incidents. Terminals 1, 4, 6, 7 and 8 were affected, with many people running from the terminals, including onto the tarmac. There’s a shooter. There’s a shooter.
It took about 90 minutes to get the airport terminals cleared for passengers to re-enter the airport.
He said police and airport personnel began yelling at people to get back, while the masked man sat calmly on the bench. “Many passengers and employees evacuated onto the airfield and into the Central Terminal Area roadways”.
Then around 9 p.m., police responded to a call of an active shooter in Terminal 8 at LAX.
Terminals at Los Angeles International Airport were evacuated briefly before police determined that reports of gunfire were “false alarm” at the USA airport.
The news of possible gunshots prompted some people to rush out the wrong security doors, setting off alarms that added to the sense of danger, LAX police union head Marshall McClain said on KNX 1070 Newsradio.
“When you don’t have security, don’t be surprised that somebody can drive you insane with a false alarm”, Yeffet said.
“Report of shooting at LAX proven to be loud noises only”, Los Angeles police Capt. Andy Neiman said on Twitter.
Officials have not confirmed if there have been any shots fired, or any injuries. Planes started taking off again about 10 p.m., but no flights were arriving. Police proceeded to shut down numerous terminals, as well as nearby traffic, and all flights were halted between 9 and 9:30pm. Airport spokeswoman Nancy Castles said about 280 flights were delayed, including 120 arrivals and 161 departures. Airlines reported two cancelled flights.
All terminals and roads into the airport had been reopened by 11 p.m. PDT, about two hours after the initial reports, officials said. “We are investigating it but we haven’t been able to confirm any source of those noises”, he said.
