Los Angeles Schools Closed After Threat
“There is no credible threat to our children”.

The message was “written in a fashion that suggests that it’s not plausible, and we’ve come to the conclusion that we must continue to keep our school system open”, de Blasio said.
The chief of the Los Angeles school police department, Steven Zipperman, also stressed the decision was an extreme precautionary measure. The LAPD and FBI are investigating the threat.
Los Angeles is just an hour drive from San Bernardino. “The specific threat was attack with assault rifles and machine pistols”.
The district is the second largest in the USA and encompasses more than 900 schools and 640,000 students.
Mayor Bill de Blasio has revealed that NYC schools have also received a threat on December 15, but won’t be closing schools.
“I think it was a significant overreaction”, Bratton said.
Bratton told the Associated Press the person who wrote the note claimed to be a jihadist.
NY officials were in contact with Los Angeles law enforcement, as well as federal officials and joint terrorism task forces around the country. “We’re doing everything we can to ensure that we conduct a thorough investigation into that threat, and we’ll be working with the school district, as well as with the FBI”.
One mother of an LA student told Sky News she believed the city-wide closure was the “responsible” thing to do.
“I would say this to people that are critical …”
The threat against the district was sent via email to a school board member Monday evening and was traced back to an IP address in Frankfurt, Germany, according to spokeswoman Ellen Morgan.
Mr Cortines said the district police chief informed him about the threat shortly after 5am. “We have chosen to close our schools today until we can be sure our campuses are safe”.
It was to many schools, not expressly identified.
“I can’t take a chance”.
The San Bernardino attack influenced the decision to close the entire district, Cortines said.
Officials said they were not aware of any other threats.

LA officials said the threat was aimed at numerous but unspecified campuses.
