Los Angeles to host 2017 NHL All-Star Game

“I think our vision of it, it’s about the growth of the game”, said Luc Robitaille, the Kings’ president of business operations. That in itself marks the failure that is epitomized by the latter on Scott: The game competition doesn’t matter as-so-much the connection with the fan base and the personalization of the entire event.

The league is struggling with a hard dichotomy; the event is a resounding financial and local success everywhere it goes, but the actual game itself has gradually deteriorated to the point some league officials were embarrassed by the lackadaisical spectacle on the ice last winter in Columbus.

Team Metropolitan Division will play Team Atlantic Division at 2 p.m. (PDT), and the Pacific Division team with Sharks Joe Pavelski and Brent Burns, will face the Central Division at 3 p.m. The winning team of each semifinal game will play in the final at 4 p.m., with $1 million going to the victorious team.

Many Maple Leafs fans expected to get the same treatment the Montreal Canadiens got for their centennial: The draft and the All-Star game, as well as 90 minute long ceremonies before each game, and retiring every number from 1-67.

“They should do something if they don’t want this to happen again”, Scott said Friday at media day. I was voted in and I don’t want to be suspended, miss a game, ” said Jagr, whose team will visit the Capitals without their captain Ovechkin on Tuesday. It’s gotten a lot of publicity. “It could be a good thing”.

Scott, 33, said the response he received from The Players’ Tribune article was overwhelmingly positive.

As though to remind everyone of his pedigree, the 6-foot-8, 260-pound Scott, he of the 542 penalty minutes, also playfully toppled Kane, prompting the league’s scoring leader to drop the gloves in a mock bout.

The Kings will host the 2017 NHL All-Star Game at Staples Center, an event they pursued to celebrate the upcoming 50th anniversary of the team’s entry into the NHL and to further promote a sport that has taken strong root in Southern California on the youth and professional levels.

Scott, who earned an engineering degree while playing at Michigan Tech, said he planned to have fellow All-Star Jaromir Jagr sign a sweater and looked forward to exchanging sticks with some of the NHL’s elite players. “John is just a great guy, a straight shooter”. I think it’s flawless with everything around it, the rink being downtown; there is so much to do and see.

“The second one I definitely had a lot of help, so thanks to Dierks for coming in and doing that”, Neal said. “I play mini-sticks and I’m going to try to win”.

“I’m just going to show up and make sure I’m stretched out and ready to go”, he added.

“I wanted to stack the deck and put my eggs in as many baskets as I could and win those prizes, ” Scott joked. Scott’s wife, Danielle, is pregnant with twins due within the next two weeks, and they will be heading to MI during the American Hockey League’s All-Star break. “Do you think this is something your kids would be proud of?” a league official asked him.

That incident only strengthened his resolve to play Sunday.

“I don’t think it was an easy situation for him or for the league”, the Islanders’ John Tavares said.

For now, he’s looking forward to fan support in his big weekend with the superstars.

“Just a guy who’s brain dead and goes out there and fights and doesn’t really know how to play hockey”, Scott said.
