Lotto: Cost of buying lottery ticket to rise by a euro
Not only that, but two extra numbers are going to be added to the selection grid, meaning that your odds of winning the jackpot are nearly 11 million to one.

Hat tip: RTÉ news.
Under the new measures, these odds will now increase to 10.7 million to one.
So the familiar two lines of Lotto Plus priced at €4 will now cost you €5.
Premier Lotteries said there will be an average 14 jackpot winners a year, down from 17 in the current game.
The Lotto says that a player’s chance to win a prize – but not necessarily the jackpot – will increase from one in 42 to one in 28.7.
What changes can I expect?
It said there would be an increased pay-out for smaller prizes including €100,000 for matching five numbers and the bonus ball.
A winning ticket for the Lotto 6/49 guaranteed $1 million was bought in British Columbia.
The changes are due to be introduced from Thursday, 3 September with the first Lotto draw under the new Lotto to take place on Saturday, 5 September. And the game will have a new raffle element: each Lotto Plus ticket will include a four-digit raffle number that, if drawn, will see the player win €300.

The National Lottery’s Agent Council said that they support the changes.
