‘Louie’ taking a break as Louis CK creates new FX comedy
At TCA today, FX head John Landgraf announced that Louis C.K. will be taking an extended hiatus before he returns to work on Louie, still the most thoughtful and gut-bustingly hilarious comedy series on television. There is also a possible third series in the early stages.

Landgraf agreed with one critic’s suggestion that the situation was similar to HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, which is on indefinite hiatus until creator Larry David wants to do another season.
Louis C.K. has always been a Renaissance Man of modern comedy, writing, directing, editing, and producing TV and film on top of his illustrious stand-up career. “He’s anxious to take a break from the show and work on other things” said Landgraf, though its worth noting that C.K.’s relationship with FX will continue to be at the top of his priority list.
Adlon co-created the series with Louie C.K., and it will be made through his production company, Pig Newton.
“Better Things” follows Adlon as a working actor with no filter who is trying to juggle her personal and professional lives.
There’s good news and bad news for Louis C.K. fans.

The fifth season of Louie aired last spring, but there was a two-year gap between Seasons 3 and 4, which aired in 2012 and 2014. One of them will feature Zach Galifianakis in “Baskets“, and the other in “Better Things” stars Pamela Adlon, who of course appeared on “Louie” for over a dozen episodes as Pamela. “It’s really going to be his choice [on when he’ll return]”.
