Louis van Gaal acknowledges increased pressure but says he can handle scrutiny
Louis van Gaal raised the prospect of quitting as Manchester United manager after a fourth straight loss was inflicted by Stoke, which won their Premier League encounter 2-0 on Saturday.

In his absence, club legend and assistant manager Ryan Giggs reportedly took charge of the session ahead of Monday’s Chelsea clash at home.
Van Gaal has blamed the media for his current predicament but if goals pay the rent, he and his multi-million pounds superstars would have either been evicted or squatting under taped-together 5p carrier bags.
Spanish news outlet Fichajes earlier this month reported that Mourinho has been given the green signal to replace van Gaal.
“We didn’t dare to play the football that we can and I have analysed it as a outcome of the circumstances: the pressure that you have to cope with as a player group, as an individual player”, he said.
“We are playing well so it is a game we look forward to”, continued Hughes.
After the Stoke game, Van Gaal appeared to accuse his players of bowing to the pressure surrounding the club. “I said we have to play football at half-time and you have seen the difference, but that is not enough, you have to start in the first minute”.
“Sometimes I do that by myself, but I am the one who wants to speak first with the board of Manchester United and my members of staff and my players, not with you”.
He’s admitted that he’s been trying and everyone can that, but the fact that van Gaal looks like he has no clue what he’s doing is a legitimate reason for him to smartly step aside and give someone else a chance while Manchester United are still in the EPL title race.
Pereira praised United’s traveling fans and said the players were determined to reward the supporters with victory against the visiting Blues.
“You will have to wait and see, but I think so”, he said.
Van Gaal rejected the idea that it would be better if Woodward backed him with a public statement.
“It’s more hard because I am now part of the four matches we have lost and people are looking at me”. “More important is that my players shall manage that because they have to perform”.
Shearer said the decision to drop Rooney was “a big statement”.
