Louis Van Gaal dismisses resignation rumours following draw against Chelsea
Chris Smalling has called United critics “silly” to suggest players are not giving their all for under-fire Louis van Gaal.

After Manchester United and Chelsea played a goalless draw on Monday night, the managers of the two teams gave their thought on their team’s struggles in the league.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal believes his side dominated the match and deserved to win against Chelsea.
“We had two penalty cases, one the foul on Mata, the other the handball of Willian”, Van Gaal said.
He said: “When you play at the big clubs, you always have to show your best and every day you have to work for your contract”.
Van Gaal conceded that United’s form is unacceptable for a club of their status, but he was adamant he still had a strong relationship with his players, many of whom were said to be unhappy with his tactics.
“Chelsea are where they are and, while Arsenal lift you up sometimes, they can then go to Southampton on Saturday, get smashed and it is not really that much of a surprise”.
Van Gaal continued that it was those around the Premier League that were fanning the belief that Manchester United was in crisis. It is safe to say at this point that Van Gaal is under extreme pressure.
The reluctance of some United fans to back the claims of sacked Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho to take over at Old Trafford may be the reason why so many are hoping soon to be out-of-work Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola could fill their managerial void.
“I can not have any influence on that”, he said. You could tell everyone gave their all and we were driving for that win.
Although the 20-time English champions managed to end a three-game losing run in the Premier League, the Red Devils have failed to win any of their last eight games, which is their worst run since 1990.
‘I think a lot of players will take a lot of confidence from the fact that we are getting into those positions and causing teams a few troubles’. “We were quite lucky we had another game straight after and that we could put it right”.

“We’ve moved on from and the atmosphere has improved since the change of manager”, said the midfielder. “We have not won, but now we are three games [unbeaten] and that is important”.
