Louis van Gaal hoping to start new year with a bang
Louis van Gaal has suggested the Manchester United job could be his last, but denied that the pressure he is experiencing at Old Trafford is the reason he may leave management behind.

United finished fourth in the table last term to return to the Champions League, while they sat first in the Premier League come November.
However, the result meant van Gaal’s side extended their winless streak to eight games in all competitions. Then we went out of the Champions League and that was a big blow.
“The past year was one full of mixed emotions and we did not finish 2015 on a high as we’d have hoped”.
Despite their poor record, Van Gaal insists there is no magic wand to be waved in order to end their Swansea curse, but has called on his side to improve upon their past displays.
“They have to give everything and that’s the most hard aspect of players’ function”.
Curtis gambled somewhat by making eight changes for the trip to Selhurst Park in order to keep his squad fresh, including three men â- defender Jordi Amat, midfielder Matt Grimes and forward Marvin Emnes â- who had not previously played a single minute of league football all season.
The pressure on Van Gaal will increase if United fail to beat Swansea at Old Trafford on Saturday. I have had bad periods at all my clubs and I have to say the best fans are at Manchester United.
And Van Gaal revealed he is seeing signs the team are on the right track again and brushed aside talk of the pressure he is facing, though he hinted again the United position could be the last one he will hold.
“I have lost three times against Swansea, and so you have to evaluate why you lost”. That is of course much more hard when you don’t win than when you win.
“I don’t know (if the pressure has gone)”, van Gaal said. And then you continue with the same vicious circle of working.
“And I have to say the best fans are here at Manchester United because in such a hard period they were applauding about the performance of the players and that’s fantastic”. We have to get points otherwise the gap is too big and that is why we have to do what we have to do.
“But still we need to win because we want to be at the top of the league and not in the middle”.
“You make a game plan to beat your opponent and then you have to convince your players”. “Then you have to train”.

The United boss also offered an upbeat message as he admitted his team needed to improve in the New Year.
