Louis van Gaal: ‘I am no clown’

A club statement read: “It has been suggested in at least one national newspaper recently that Fletcher Moss Rangers are asking Manchester United for a donation of £2million for the development of Marcus whilst with our club”.

Louis van Gaal insists that his clowning around is over and he will keep his emotions in check from now on.

“I am probably a bit ahead of schedule since the surgery so I have got to manage it well, recover right and hopefully I will be fine to play a part in the (Swansea) game”.

“Tottenham and Leicester both have to play against us, so you never know”.

It’s not the first time that Merson had criticised Wenger, in particular his obstinate refusal to reinforce his squad, and though the Frenchman has shrugged off the attacks in the past, this latest verbal broadside is sure to inflict some damage.

Van Gaal is doing his best to help Rashford deal with his new status, along with the other four youngsters handed a United debut last week. “There are still 11 games to go but, as things stand, I do not watch them and see a team that has what it takes to win the title”.

United boss Van Gaal reserved special praise for Rashford, 18, who followed up his brace on his debut in the Europa League in midweek with two more goals on his first Premier League outing. “Now the pressure shall rise for him because all the people shall look at him in another way”, he said.

“He’s someone that I always spoke to”.

“With the younger players when they knock on the door, as a coach you need to open the door and say “okay you are ready to go” and this is what has happened”.

“When I have choice enough, then I rotate”, he said.

Arsene Wenger challenged Arsenal to respond in this week’s crucial fixtures after wasting a glorious opportunity to close the gap at the top of the English Premier League in the 3-2 loss at Manchester United.

But in recent weeks, the Dutchman was forced to call up young players due to a high number of injured first-team stars, and the academy prospects that he selected have been incredibly impressive, especially 18-year-old striker Marcus Rashford.
