Louis van Gaal: I May Have Been Wrong to Let Strikers Leave
Manchester United may have one of the worst goalscoring records in the league but that does not mean Louis van Gaal will definitely be buying a striker in January.

Up front, Anthony Martial remains the player you would back most if a chance falls.
James Robson Louis van Gaal is clearly doing something wrong against Swansea, having lost his three previous matches against the Welsh club.
Despite an encouraging performance in the 0-0 draw against Chelsea, Van Gaal is still under pressure to deliver a win when United host Swansea on Saturday.
Routledge’s volley was de Gea’s only save of the first half but despite a lack of attacking threat, Alan Curtis would have been the happier of the two managers. You can not always explain that.
“It was a great goal”. It may be a New Year, but it was a familiar tale for the home fans.
United should have also done better after taking a quick free-kick on the edge of the area that caught the Swans by surprise, but Taylor was alert to make another vital interception. I know I wouldn’t want to play against him.

Swansea won 2-1 against United in last season’s corresponding Premier League fixture. Had they failed to beat a struggling Swansea side, more questions would have been asked about the Dutchman’s future, particularly with Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola still on the market.
“I have given confidence to the players to play there. We are training but scoring goals is a quality”, says Van Gaal.
“I don’t believe too much in competition”.
“We’re always looking for solutions in the team, but we still have a good team and we can still score goals”.
The match may have ended scoreless, but United put on a thrilling attacking display in the first half and deserved three points.

That change sees Matteo Darmian drop to the bench and Phil Jones come into the centre of defence. Sigurdsson sent in a corner, with the goalkeeper up for the set piece, he met it with a powerful header that must have flown just inches past the near post. “After the equaliser it was not so easy but we believed in ourselves”.
