Louis van Gaal insists United will fight for three trophies this season
‘After a hard week, a week that even you’d admit did not go to plan, do you have any doubts about your own ability to do what you set out to do here at Manchester United?

“Two set plays and two goals you can not accept that as a manager, as a player, as a team because we pay a lot of attention to it”, he said. “At a club like Manchester United they are very high”.
Van Gaal’s side now enter the dreaded Europa League, a competition in which the Dutchman claims they must win.
“When I see that my players want to do everything that we ask then I think that is the most important thing”. But I still believe we have the squad to win the title’. Next year all the clubs in the Premier League will have a bigger budget than most clubs in Europe.
With his Man United side already heavily criticized for not scoring enough goals and playing entertaining soccer this season, the European woes have compounded the woes of van Gaal.
Van Gaal also said that comparisons with successful United sides of the past are unhelpful. “It’s the first time I’ve scored from that drill”.
“So it’s very hard for a Premier League club to match with the other leagues in the Champions League”.
Manchester United have some serious injury woes ahead of their tie with Bournemouth in the Premier League this evening.
Van Gaal may have tested the patience of United’s demanding fans in the week, suggesting the club, for all its pedigree and riches, can not automatically expect success, but he retains the advantage of having the thickest skin.
“We have eight injured players because Darmian and also Smalling we can add to this list, and Schweinsteiger is also suspended, so it’s nine players who are not able to play”.
On his team’s chances of winning titles, Van Gaal: “They say a club like Manchester United has to win. I can say them but I don’t want to defend myself”.
“Paddy McNair had cramp, he didn’t play so much this season and with Jesse Lingard it is a second time in a short time so we will have to see”, he said after the game.
“The clock has started ticking on the United manager”.
“I think the attitude of the players, I like the attitude”, he said.
