Louis van Gaal isn’t happy with Bastian Schweinsteiger’s form

The Red Devils registered their fifth 0-0 draw in just eight games on Saturday, and Van Gaal admitted that the club are yet to see the best of Schweinsteiger, per the Manchester Evening News.

That’s always hard when you are playing for a team like Man-chester United because the expectations are very high, but I’m convinced he should continue [in the team] and he will score at the right moment again.

“I think he’s very talented, but he’s just 20 and we have to give him time”.

“I know that we must score goals”.

“I don’t understand that they [the fans] are shouting, ‘Attack, attack, attack, ‘ because we are the attacking team and not West Ham”. Normally, we create more chances than our opponents but you have to finish.

“I am pleased. When I have to consider our season it was only the match against Arsenal [a 3-0 defeat] and the match against Crystal Palace [0-0] when we were not the better team”, he said. You never know. I think they would, though.

Schweinsteiger will make his first appearance on German soil with United since his move from Bayern Munich and Van Gaal said they have yet to see the best of Germany’s skipper.

Players are out of form as well, Juan Mata and Memphis Depay, who had decent starts to the season, seem to have found the neutral gear while Anthony Martial’s great run has come to a premature halt.

That would be a big blow to the Dutchman’s credibility and, while van Gaal insists he has a good relationship with his players at present, he made it clear he would have no qualms about quitting if the situation soured.

Martial started his United career like a house on fire after joining them from Monaco in a world record £36m deal for a teenager.

Scholes said the teenage summer signing “doesn’t look bothered” if he misses a chance.

Since arriving at Old Trafford, van Gaal has-remarkably-let over seven strikers leave the club, and it’s telling that while United are struggling for goals, the likes of Danny Welbeck, James Wilson, Angelo Henriquez, Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao, Will Keane and Javier Hernandez are all in action elsewhere. But we saw at Old Trafford that we can compete against them. He doesn’t need that pressure to score every match.
