Rashford, who boss Louis van Gaal claimed is not even ready for the first team, is now represented by his older brother, Dwaine Maynard, and receives support from Danny Welbeck’s brothers Chris and Wayne.

Rashford’s big break was largely forced upon Van Gaal as United suffered a crippling mid-season injury crisis, which has eased in recent weeks.

The Rashford camp are talking to several agencies keen to sign up one of the Premier League’s brightest young talents.

But Arnesen reckons United should stick with Van Gaal instead. “A good manager should always try to have a mix of young and experienced players in his selection”.

The Dutchman said: “Everyone wants to play in a semi-final”.

“I have had that at all my clubs because I give youngsters the chance to do that”, he said.

The introduction of talented youngsters has been one of the highlights of a disappointing United season – Van Gaal has handed debuts to 14 academy graduates since his arrival.

Supporters have had to contend with van Gaal’s negative style of play for too long and it would be hard to imagine the club sticking with him for another season. “He is not yet ready and he knows that; he can still learn a lot”.

LvG believes Rashford isn’t ready for the first team yet.
