Louis van Gaal says he could quit Manchester United by himself
Louis van Gaal has hinted that he may resign before being sacked as Manchester United manager, as reported by The Independent.

But that is something I speak with Ed Woodward by himself and not you.
The United manager then admitted in his post-match press conference that he could quit the club, and Bosnich insists the Dutchman’s body language highlights his current mindset.
Van Gaal, who succeeded David Moyes in the summer of 2014, said the club had backed him “all the time” but added: “We have lost so there is a new situation”.
Embattled Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal may have to clear his desk for the timid play in their recent outing against Stoke City, losing 2-0.
But if United slip to another defeat, van Gaal is expected to leave of his own accord, after becoming disillusioned with his own players, and the pressure and criticism from the British press.
BBC Sport quote him as saying: “It is not always the club that has to fire or sack me.
We could not cope with the circumstances and then we gave a very bad goal away”.
“That is what I have analysed”, said Van Gaal, whose side’s next game is at home to Chelsea on Monday.
“I said at half-time we had nothing to lose and we coped better after that”.
With just one day between matches, Van Gaal admits there will be little opportunity for his players to regain their fitness for the match against the Premier League champions.
Is van Gaal to blame alone?
“No, I don’t think so because I have seen that also in my other jobs”, he said when asked if he expected his team to be mentally stronger.
“My worry for United is that whoever comes in they’ve got a squad lacking athleticism”, said the former Liverpool and Fulham midfielder.
Wayne Rooney, who started the game on the bench for the first time this year, replaced winger Memphis Depay before the second half started.
Giggs has been heavily linked with the Swansea job and could well be subject of a fresh approach by Liberty Stadium bosses should United’s hierarchy go for an outsider when van Gaal eventually leaves. The next two days will show whether it was his parting gesture. You see that different players cope with that pressure differently.

“Seeing the team get poor results is unusual for you, but the best way to come out of this and improve is for us all to stick together”.
