Louis van Gaal should have resigned after Manchester United’s loss to Stoke

United have lost their last four games including a 2-0 defeat to Stoke on Boxing Day.
Afterwards, Van Gaal – who earlier this week stormed out of his pre-match press conference – intimated he could resign from his post as manager.
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick gave an interview to the club’s official website in which he said the team is now on a “horrible run”, and that the losing streak gives them a “horrible feeling”.
Van Gaal, 64, said that was something he would discuss with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and not the media. “I am not so interested in public sayings”, he signed off.
“You can say we can quickly get over this defeat by playing against Chelsea, but in the time in between, you have to recover because the players have given everything”, Van Gaal told MUTV.
England keeper Jack Butland was in fine form denying Marouane Fellaini, Anthony Martial and Juan Mata for the visitors, while Wayne Rooney – who started on the bench – came on at half-time but was unable to inspire a United comeback.
Mourinho was initially linked with the United job when Ferguson retired in 2013, and Bosnich believes it was a mistake not appointing him then and it would be another mistake not appointing him now.
There has been lots of speculation floating around suggesting van Gaal wouldn’t be in charge for Chelsea yet it looks like that won’t be the case.
Providing his analysis on why United were some abysmal at the Brittania stadium, he said his side lost the plot in the first half of the game.
The Potters now have three marquee victories at home this season: Chelsea, Manchester City, and now Manchester United. As a club and as a group of players and as a staff, as a manager, everyone together, we have to stick together.
Speaking ahead of United’s Monday game against Chelsea, Carrick said: “Listen, people talk about support, but it’s not like the lads go out and don’t play”.
“It is not so easy anymore, and after you lose four matches in a row it is much more hard after the third match”.

“That’s a period all players, not just him, have to overcome, and I think they need time for that”.
