Singer, model and footballing Louise Redknapp has just been announced as the sixth contestant on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing. Dancing in Eternal in my Caterpillar boots doing the running man isn’t quite the same?
And the Eternal singer might just have the most impressive experience of the rest, having attended Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and was a judge on the United Kingdom version of So You Think You Can Dance.
She added: “He’s got zero rhythm”.
She said: “My husband is laughing at me, he’s mortified because he’s like, “Whoever you get as a partner I feel sorry for”. I don’t want to embarrass myself!
I have to say I never thought I’d do it.
“When I did Dancing On Ice, I was thinking, “Oh, this is a fluke”, but I would be so much more serious in Strictly that I don’t know if the public would like it”.
Laura Whitmore is the only other lady to be confirmed, while Ore Aduba and Melvin Odoom round off the current line-up.
Louise shot to fame in the 90s as part of R&B band Eternal, who went on to become the first girl group to sell over one million albums in the UK.
After that, her career as part of Eternal was less of a challenge in terms of dancing, as was her solo career.
Redknapp’s TV presenting duties include co-presenting the BBC’s Something For The Weekend.

“Strictly” bosses may be hoping that viewers forget that she also served as a judge on another dance show, when she sat on the panel of BBC One’s ‘So You Think You Can Dance?’ from 2010 to 2011.
