Louisville LB Keith Brown ejected for targeting

No. 11 Florida State surged in the second half to beat Louisville, 41-21, on Saturday while also extending its Atlantic Coast Conference winning streak to 28 games – one shy of the record.

Florida State’s first-team offense scored on all five of its second-half possessions and rolled up 510 yards of total offense in the game.

The call was Louisville’s first targeting penalty of the season.

The Seminoles trailed 7-6 at halftime but outscored Louisville (2-4, 0-2 ACC) 34-14 in the second half.

The Louisville Cardinals (2-3) are coming from a bye week after beating NC State, 20-13, in Week 5.

Freshman quarterback Lamar Jackson tossed three touchdowns in the loss for Louisville.

Louisville led the game going into the second quarter.

Brown, a senior, had a helmet-to-helmet to hit on an Everett Golson completion to Travis Rudolph during the third quarter.

It marked Cook’s fourth rushing game of more than 100 yards and the ninth of his Florida State career – tying for sixth all-time in school history – and he has 855 yards rushing this year through six games. Golson completed 26 of 38 passes for 372 yards and three touchdowns. Quick ended the afternoon with four receptions for 124 yards. Louisville Cardinals rank at 86 for 167.0 road passing yards where as Florida State Seminoles rank at 30 for allowing 146.5 passing yards at home.

The Seminoles still do not have an offensive turnover all season long. Jackson also add 121 yards and a touchdown in 19 carries. Florida State’s lone points in the first half came on a pair of Roberto Aguayo field goals. After allowing an average of 396.7 yards in its first three games, Louisville has allowed an average of 197 yards in its last two….
