LSP 13 year veteran, Trooper Steven Vincent, laid to rest
The State Police superintendent, Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, described Senior Trooper Steven J. Vincent’s death as “senseless and tragic”. When he pulled up, he discovered a person with “pure evil in his eyes” rifling via the trooper’s pockets.

Instead of leaving, LeDoux said, “I took off running”.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office announced via Facebook that Kevin Daigle has been charged with second-degree murder, motor vehicle theft and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection to the late Blake Brewer.
“His family lives and breathes law enforcement”, Edmonson said.
Meanwhile, authorities said they found the body of a man whom Daigle had stayed with, and they said Daigle is a suspect in his death.
Police have called him a hero. Daigle allegedly emerged from the truck with a sawed-off shotgun and fired it, striking Vincent.
Guillory said Vincent’s fellow state troopers wore their hats during the ceremony because Vincent loved wearing his hat.
Authorities have charged Daigle with first-degree murder in the trooper’s slaying.
Upon arrival, a sheriff’s deputy found the man dead and signs of a struggle.
Those authorities were headed to Brewer’s home when state police related what Daigle had said regarding an altercation. “It’s somebody we’ve dealt with before”.
The pickup truck had been reported weaving across the road near Bell City before it wound up in a ditch, state police said.
“You could hear him breathing, telling him, ‘You’re lucky”. LeDoux, who declined to speak, then radioed for help, Edmonson said.
It’s unclear whether Daigle has a lawyer, and Louisiana state police did not immediately return ABC News’ request for comment.
The Washington Post adds, “According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, the most accurate public count of police officers killed each year, Vincent is the 21st on-duty police officer killed by gunfire from a suspect”.
