LSU DL Christian LaCouture Out For Season With Knee Injury

A day after LSU received good news that defensive lineman Travonte Valentine would be eligible to play this season, sources have verified that another defensive lineman, Christian LaCouture, has torn his ACL and will be out for the year. And there’s a chance it could cost him the season.

LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette confirmed to NOLA.com that LaCouture and redshirt freshman linebacker Isaiah Washington both are dealing with injuries but did not provide specifics.

LaCouture, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound senior, has started 23 games at defensive tackle the past two seasons.

LSU’s defensive line depth is one of the reasons the Tigers are considered the favorites to usurp Alabama atop the SEC West standings.

LaCouture, a senior, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee during a non-contact drill Sunday, and Washington, a sophomore, suffered serious ligament damage as well. The severity of his injury is unknown. He played in six games, mostly on special teams, and had three tackles and a forced fumble. Valentine took summer classes to regain his eligibility after he was deemed ineligible before the 2014 season.
