LSU fires Miles, Cameron, promotes Orgeron
He retained Cameron as his offensive coordinator.

The interim head coach will be defensive line coach Ed Orgeron, who was the interim head coach of USC back in 2013. He leaves the school with a record of 114-34. Rumors began circulating following an abysmal three-loss start for the Tigers in the 2015 season.
The remaining 2016 success – or lack thereof – will determine the path the football program will take, but subtle changes in practice, game planning and overall team organization will play into the decision as to what transpires at the conclusion of this season. We felt a change was needed to be successful for the remainder of the season, and we look forward to Coach Orgeron leading the team the rest of the season.
The offensive regression of the LSU Tigers had a lot to do with the dismissal of Les Miles. Orgeron assumed the reigns for nine games, guiding the Trojans to a 7-2 finish in a 10-4 season. LSU has not scored a single point in the fourth quarter all season. Under Cameron, the Tigers rank third worst in the league in total offense. But after the Tigers rallied to close the regular season with a home triumph over Texas A&M, Alleva announced that Miles would return.
Orgeron is certainly familiar with an interim coaching role. “It’s hard for people”. The buyout could also be decreased by a portion of the new salary Miles would receive if he gets a new coaching job.
Miles received a standing ovation from his players, whom he encouraged to “run the table” in their final eight games.
“Coach Miles loves us”.
Miles coached the Tigers to a national title in the 2007 season. He also coached Oklahoma State from 2001 to 2004. The LSU Tigers only managed 118 passing yards and 14 first downs in the game. Two years later, Saban returned to the college game at LSU rival Alabama. “I hurt for coach”. “I love you coach”. His teammates there included ex-NFL star Bobby Hebert.

Coach David Cutcliffe said Edwards tore both the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee during Saturday’s upset win. And then he famously said, “Please ask me after”. He did most of the talking. On the day of the 2007 SEC championship, ESPN reported Miles was headed to MI.
