LSU player comments on Les Miles after Ole Miss game

A report from the Baton Rouge Advocate days before the Ole Miss game said the Tigers’ final two games of the season could decide Miles’ future.

“This team still has a lot to be proud of this year”, Radwanski noted.

The Ole Miss Rebels were seven-point favorites heading into this matchup and covered handily.

None of the Tigers’ offensive players came out for interviews as LSU was held to fewer than 18 points for the third consecutive game and struggled to move the ball consistently. Now veteran coach Les Miles is facing questions about job security after the program’s first three-game losing streak since 1999.

LSU plays Texas A&M on Saturday night. LSU beat writer Scott Rabalais wrote last week that Miles had lost the support of the boosters and that there was a “serious threat” to his job.

And that was all before Miles’s team got embarrassed in Oxford.

LSU finished the game with 13 penalties, two of which resulted in Ole Miss first downs, for 95 yards.

Sophomore running back Darrel Williams was stuffed at the line of scrimmage on first down, the LSU coaching staff made a mind-boggling decision on a failed wildcat direct snap attempt on the following play and Williams was stopped just short of the goal line on third down. Miles relies heavily on the run, and has struggled to find a good starter at the quarterback position for years now. “We thank the Ole Miss family for their concern and encouragement, and we appreciate everyone respecting the family’s privacy during this time”.

“When those disappointments happen, how do you respond? and how do you react?”, Freeze said “Those guys have continuously bounced back after disappointment after disappointment, and I just couldn’t be prouder”. He won the BCS National Championship in 2007 and lost in the national title game in 2011. So, what I’ve always done is, I put my head down and I go to work.

I can’t entirely decipher that bit of Milesian poetry, but he’s certainly hearing the rumors. Domingue had nailed all 10 previous field goals this season.

Miles mentioned Fournette’s first run against Arkansas twice Monday in his weekly news conference with reporters, specifically highlighting the play from Jeter on the edge – the epitome of LSU’s rushing woes.

“He’s not as far along as what I’d like for him to be”, Briles said Wednesday.
