LSU QB Jennings and two teammates won’t face burglary charges

LSU junior starting quarterback Anthony Jennings, junior safety Dwayne Thomas and sophomore defensive tackle Maquedius Bain will report for the start of football practice on Wednesday and begin practicing with the rest of the team on Thursday, LSU Coach Les Miles said in an athletic department release on Friday.

Jennings, defensive lineman Maquedius Bain and defensive back Dwayne Thomas were arrested June 18 and charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. Thomas was also booked on simple burglary. What do OSU suspensions mean?

Wednesday afternoon, East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore confirmed to a group of reporters covering a speech at the Baton Rouge Rotary Club that the victim in a case involving the LSU football players have asked that the preliminary charges against the trio be dropped. Essentially, it’s being alleged that the three went into the open apartment of another LSU student to retrieve items they claim were stolen the week before.

Moore says the student’s current preference caries weight, but first wants to review transcripts of what the person initially told police. “Although their actions could have subjected them to such”, Moore said. After Jennings’ and the other two players’ charges were dropped, most LSU beat writers predicted the reinstatement.

Friday’s news from the district attorney is especially beneficial for Jennings, who is competing for the starting quarterback position against Brandon Harris.

All three players were suspended by head coach Les Miles. The victim told them he didn’t have Jennings’ items and let Bain and Thomas check out his room.

“Whether (the players) broke into the apartment or not is the question”.

The intruders entered Anderson’s bedroom, destroying the door frame and locks, the police report says.

The victim was out of town at the time, but was able to identify that he was missing three pairs of Air Jordan shoes when the witness sent him pictures of his room.
