While Deichmann came through with the pivotal two-run homer to put LSU on top, there were other key contributors in the lineup that helped the Tigers ensure a win.
“He changed the game for us”, Robertson said. Bryce Jordan started the inning with a sacrifice fly to pull the Tigers to 2-1, and Deichmann pushed his RBI total to 23 in his past 19 games. He was able to get the Tigers to swing at the cheap stuff and induce their own ground outs and pop ups, facing only one batter over the minimum through the first 6 innings. Lancaster got the force out at second and threw the ball to first in time but Kevin Woodall couldn’t keep his foot on the bag to complete the inning-ending double play.
