LSU’s Fournette runs over Texas Tech in Texas Bowl victory
It was just a below.

The LSU star tallied five total touchdowns and 212 rushing yards on 29 carries as LSU beat the Red Raiders 56-27 in Tuesday’s Texas Bowl. The 46-yard pass setup a 4-yard touchdown run by Fournette, his fourth score of the night.
“I got out of the game”, Fournette said. Let’s win a bowl game that matters next year.
Leonard Fournette ran wild, taking off for four touchdown runs from two, 43, four and two yards away and took a pass 44 yards for a score as LSU ran all over Texas Tech. The one-point difference lasted all of 24 seconds when D.J.
“Sometimes during the summer, they would usually have a lab that they could not find a teacher for”, he said, “and I would go out there and teach part-time”. “Going ahead, we’re just going to keep on working hard”.
Fournette pushed LSU’s lead to 21-6 when he took a screen pass 44 yards for his first career touchdown catch with about 6 1/2 minutes left in the second quarter.
So what the Texas Bowl really was for Texas Tech was an opportunity to measure where the program stands against one of the standard-bearers in the game. “It took us awhile to adjust”.
For the Red Raiders, wide receiver Jakeem Grant had 80 yards passing, scoring Texas Tech’s only two touchdowns in the first half.
Also, on the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Kendell Beckwith finished with 2.5 sacks and four tackles for loss. “Overall, it was a great effort by our guys”. In Leonard Fournette, the Tigers sported one of the best tailbacks in the country who led the nation with 158.2 rushing yards a game.
Harris also made perhaps the most clutch play of the game.
Harris completed passes to seven receivers in all. Reginald Davis came down with a 31-yard touchdown catch. Chark ran 79 yards for a touchdown on LSU’s next play to make it 14-6. Whether it’s a permanent shift or not – by cutting out the middle man the Tigers certainly cut out their vexing inclination for delay-of-game penalties – but it didn’t harm the Tigers’ ability to match and eventually overmatch Texas Tech big play for big play. When we would, it wasn’t getting the yards we needed to, so we started throwing it more.
And especially considering some of the plays Mahomes made – plays that perhaps no other player could make – LSU did a solid job on defense. Cameron said he had considered coaching from the sidelines earlier this season, but it did not happen. “I said, ‘No sir, I’m not”.
We’re not lacking for Texas flavor in this year’s bowl season. I have loved playing for you – the best fans in college football. Next season will presumably be his final journey in purple and gold before he takes off to play on Sundays.
“This is a night that Leonard Fournette would have, again and again and again”, LSU coach Les Miles said. The Red Raiders’ gunslinger was eluding Tiger tacklers all game, leading to some brilliant scrambles reminiscent of Johnny Manziel’s days at Texas A&M right up the road.
