LSU’s offense gets tweaked in Texas Bowl

Now Miles will look to cap a disappointing season with a bowl game win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Tikrit: Located 160km north of Baghdad , it was recaptured in April by Iraqi troops, police and Shi’ite-dominated paramilitaries. The number of dead and wounded on both sides was unclear and most civilians had taken cover inside a hospital.

Fournette, who ran for 212 yards on 29 carries, served as the entire offense at several points for LSU as he broke bowl game records left and right for the Tigers. Harris got off to a slow start throwing the ball but finished with 254 yards passing and another 41 yards rushing, including a 24-yard touchdown run.

Watchdog: Israel plans settler homes in strategic area
Today, some 380,000 Israelis live in 135 West Bank settlements, with another 200,000 in east Jerusalem . The Peace Now report said more than 55,000 settlement homes are in various stages of planning.

Five LSU possessions and five LSU touchdowns later, the Tigers had a 56-27 win despite some questionable play-calling by offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and some anatomically impossible plays by Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes. They got a clutch 39-yard reception from Dupre on the next drive, and then Harris hit Quinn for that long pass to set up one of Fournette’s four rushing touchdowns.

Airstrike kills ISIS leader with link to Paris attacks
He had links to the Paris attack network and was killed Saturday in an airstrike on the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, Warren said. Airstrikes since December 7 have killed at least 10 leaders of the Islamic extremist group, the Washington Post reported .

According to oddsmakers at RealBets, LSU is favored in this bowl game, as the Tigers are getting odds of -7 points against Texas Tech.

If LSU does indeed go on to defeat Kliff Kingsbury’s Red Raiders, it would give the Tigers a bowl win and a 9-3 record. The Texas Tech Red Raiders are 7-5 and 7-5 against the spread.

The Red Raiders completed an eight-play, 61-yard touchdown drive that ended in Grant’s third touchdown of the game.

But Texas Tech’s defensive plan cost them in the first quarter when it was lulled into paying attention to Fournette and LSU sophomore quarterback Brandon Harris rather than a sweeping D.J. Chalk.

Grant had a 4-yard reception for Texas Tech that made it 42-27 early in the fourth. He also eclipsed the LSU single-season record for rushing touchdowns, finishing with 22 after a four-TD night on the ground.

LSU running back Leonard Fournette is good.

Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes heads the nation’s second-best scoring offense. And even if it isn’t, the Texas Bowl has already given us this picture of LSU coach Les Miles. But Miles said that despite the Tigers ability to run the football, balance on offense will be critical to their success against the Red Raiders. Look for a lot of runs with Fournette. This is perhaps why he had a member of LSU’s sports information office add something to a release about Miles staying on as coach on the day of the Texas A&M game. In addition to Fournette, LSU running back DJ Chark found ways to run with the ball, including a 79-yard touchdown in which he was hardly touched. The over/under for this game is a whopping 73.5 total points. Texas Tech is going to score some whether LSU is ready to play or not, but they could push 50 if LSU isn’t focused defensively.

While there is no such thing as a “sure bet”, it seems unlikely that the Red Raiders can outscore an LSU squad that has an exceptional running game, and one of the best secondarys in the nation. The senior also has six quarterback hurries and two interceptions, one he returned for a touchdown. You can purchase them here.

Fournette may have come just 47 yards short of the 2,000-yard milestone, but he said he was happy his teammates got some reps near the end of the game.
