In his post-game news conference, Miles said he was told he’s still the head coach after the game and that at the time the players might not have known still.

Apparently Miles wasn’t kidding when he said he didn’t have any idea if he’d continue to be LSU’s coach either.
O’Neal continued: “Hopefully, he stays – you know, I want him to stay”.
LSU’s administration had allowed speculation about Miles’ status to fester by refusing to comment on the matter last week, but Alleva stressed that he was only following his policy of waiting until after the season to comment on a coach’s future.

Miles’ players stepped up for him. They held Eastern Michigan to 255 yards October 3 and limited Mississippi State to 19 points in the Tigers’ season opener back September 19.
