LSU reported head coach Les Miles has suspended offensive lineman Josh Boutte for Saturday’s game against Jacksonville State.

“Josh made a mistake and will serve a one-game suspension because of it”. He was ejected from the game, and the SEC planned to review the play for a possible suspension, said Herb Vincent, an SEC administrator at the game. Running back Leonard Fournette, a Heisman front-runner and coming off the best rushing season the SEC has seen, rushed for 138 yards on 23 carries but was held out of the endzone and had a tough time getting anything going until the third quarter. “He’s not a malicious guy”, Miles said.

Miles said Fournette would have returned if LSU was able to get the ball back.

Rafael Gaglianone booted the 47-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Penn State 33, Kent State 13: Trace McSorley threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns, and Saquon Barkley ran for 105 yards and another score for the Nittany Lions (1-0) at State College, Pa.

The Illini (1-0) opened up a 35-3 halftime lead over the Racers and were never threatened by the Football Championship Subdivision school.

IL 52, Murray State 3: Wes Lunt threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns, and Kendrick Foster ran for two 56-yard touchdowns at Champaign, Ill., to give new coach Lovie Smith his first win.

TEXAS A&M 31, No. 16 UCLA 24 (at College Station, Texas) – Trevor Knight threw for 239 yards and a touchdown and ran for two more scores, including one in overtime, to lead the Aggies over the Bruins in his team debut.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Luke Del Rio threw two touchdown passes in his first career start, and No. 25 Florida did just enough to beat UMass 24-7 on Saturday night and extend the nation’s longest winning streak in season openers to 27.

“When you look at the ranking, OK, they’re Number 5”. The win is a huge confidence-builder for a team with a brutal schedule, with games against Michigan State, Michigan and Ohio State all on the slate by October 15.
