Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick backs call for probe of Black Lives Matter
In an interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, this weekend, activist DeRay Mckesson offered up what is perhaps the most succinct metaphor for explaining what it’s like to hear “All Lives Matter” as a black person.

Twitter users have praised black policemen for protected and serving citizens – even at a rally of “racist” white protestors. It’s a double standard. And if BLM wants any credibility, it should refocus its attention to ALL tragic killings, not just those committed by police officers.
I, however, cringe each time I listen to this group, knowing that they are making a political statement and not coming forward with a solution to the black violence in America.
At its peak, about 100 people were on Perk Plaza on Saturday, testifying about the impact on their lives of everything from police patrols to Arab shopkeepers.
And just a few hours before Sunday’s protest, three police officers were killed and another three wounded in a shooting in Baton Rouge.
A lot of Black Lives Matter protesters see where the anti-Trump movement applies to them and a lot of Trump supporters are anti-Black Lives Matter.
“I think discussion is a good thing”, Weigel said.
The Black Lives Matter petition reached the signature threshold in less than two weeks and passed 140,000 signatures before being closed.
Cuomo: What is your response to the idea that the hashtag shouldn’t be “Black Lives Matter”, it should be “All Lives Matter”? I don’t know why this has to be us against them.
“Police officers that are serving our country and laying their lives on the line to protect us”, she said, calling for people of all races to come together to end the violence.

The more Americans who share this frustration, the more Americans who say, as Williams has, that this needs to stop and who begin to tear down barriers that separate us, the stronger the entire country will become. “And we want to live in a world where police don’t have militarized weapons and the public doesn’t have access to these militarized weapons either”.
