Lucas apologises for ‘white slavers’ remark about Disney

During the interview in question, George revealed: “I sold them to the white slavers that takes these things, and…”, before laughing and not finishing the sentence.

“I loved them. I created them. I don’t like that”, Lucas said, likening the sale to a painful break-up and complaining that the franchise had become too commercial.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has become a record setter for setting the fastest time in passing the $1 billion mark at the box office, achieving it much faster than any movie before it. All box office records, domestic and worldwide, have been decimated as the movie continues to produce profit from global sales. It was for the Kennedy Center Honors and conducted prior to the premiere of the film.

Despite some rather strained enthusiasm for the first ‘Star Wars’ film he had nothing to do with, creator George Lucas has dismissed ‘The Force Awakens’ in a recent interview, and used some particularly loaded language.

As of Friday, Disney says “The Force Awakens” brought in $686.4 million, beating out “Titanic”, which had been the second highest-grossing film domestically of all time with $658.7 million in the bank. “Every movie, I worked very hard to make them different, with different planets and different spaceships…”

But in the statement, he praised the Hollywood company.

In the interview, he talked about the Star Wars films as his “kids”, and said: “I sold them to the white slavers that take these things, and -” before cutting off his comment with a laugh. “Disney is doing an incredible job of taking care of and expanding the franchise”.

“I rarely go out with statements to clarify my feelings but I feel it is important to make it clear that I am thrilled that Disney has the franchise and is moving it in such exciting directions”, he then added.
