Luck goes through QB drills at practice
But not long after he was hired by the Colts, Pagano was diagnosed with leukemia, and missed 12 games as he tended to his health and underwent treatment.

Pagano announced at his press conference that Andrew Luck will NOT play this Sunday against the Houston Texans.
Luck was sidelined with a lacerated kidney he sustained during the Colts’ Week 9 victory over the Broncos. The team said prior to the start of the current season that it will wait on extending Luck a new contract, one that’s expected to equal or rival the deal Seattle gave to Russell Wilson or even Aaron Rodgers’ hefty extension with Green Bay.
Matt Hasselbeck took over for Luck, but the backup has been dealing with his own injuries. With all of that said, Pagano does expect Hasselbeck to be able to play on Sunday. While there is a chance that Luck could return this week, it’s more likely that the Colts will be cautious, as Luck said last week that he is not yet close to being 100 percent, although the return to practice is a good sign for his recovery.
Colts franchise quarterback Andrew Luck returned to practice on Wednesday, but head coach Chuck Pagano isn’t playing any games with the media or with the Texans.

On Monday, a day after his team’s 51-16 road drubbing at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars, a rare AFC South loss for the Colts that dropped them to 6-7, a reflective Pagano was asked about his future with the organization. But the Texans could leap over the Colts with a win, making this a crucial matchup in the division.
