Luck Out Of Colts Lineup With Lacerated Kidney

Pagano said the injuries should not require surgery and that Luck is expected to make a full recovery, possibly before the end of the regular season.

Tests revealed that Luck partially tore an abdominal muscle and suffered a laceration in his kidney.

Pagano said Luck was sore after the game and “feeling a little worse” Monday, whereupon the Colts sent him to get tests.

Veteran Matt Hasselbeck will start at quarterback during Luck’s absence.

Denver’s Danny Trevathan levels Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck early in the fourth quarter.

That puts Matt Hasselbeck back under center for the Colts. In the two games that Luck missed with injury, Hasselbeck was nothing short of superb.

The Colts’ next major opponent will be the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have their own injury problems with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who is now nursing a mid-foot sprain. Roethlisberger missed four games earlier in the season with a sprained left knee. While the Colts can win any of those games without Luck, this season has proven that the “any given Sunday” mantra is as true as ever.

The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly trying to lure quarterback Jason Campbell out of retirement, as they are in need of a backup quarterback.

In between, there has been speculation about possible fractured ribs and a more serious shoulder injury than the Colts first acknowledged. The injuries will sideline the fourth-year quarterback, potentially for the next 2-6 weeks.

Fortunately for the 4-5 Colts, they are heading into a bye week before a matchup with the struggling Atlanta Falcons.

“One of the risks is that while the kidney is healing a second blow would be more likely to re-injure the kidney”, Dr. Jacobson said. I know I am not the only one who has seen him get hit and wonder if this is the time he doesn’t get up. Hasselbeck was very productive for the Colts in his two starts this season, as he threw for 495 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
