Luck questionable for Jags vs. Colts

Despite Luck not practicing in full all week due to a shoulder injury, Pagano said he “absolutely” was confident Luck would play on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Colts.

But what happens when your start quarterback – like Andrew Luck or Drew Brees – is hurt?

Luck, in his fourth year, has never missed a game.

The Indianapolis Colts on Friday announced that they have waived cornerback Shaun Prater to make room on their 53-man roster for quarterback Josh Johnson.

Including playoffs, Luck has played in the first 57 games of his career in the NFL.

Luck has been limited in practice all week because of a shoulder injury, giving way to veteran Matt Hasselbeck to take most of the snaps.

Johnson, who has played in 29 career games (five starts), will be the likely backup on Sunday, if Andrew Luck can not go.

Fact: There is nothing wrong with a grown man taking a break from writing a blog post to sit in the corner and cry about his team’s quarterback.

“That’s my job”, he said. Which means that the Colts are ready for Luck to not play, despite the supreme and/or absolute confidence of Pagano that Luck will play.

Hasselbeck was a longtime starter at Seattle from 2001 to 2010, helping the Seahawks reach the playoffs five times and the Super Bowl in 2005. The entire Indianapolis offense would suffer without Luck, but how much? Mathis recorded his first sack of the season last week, bolstering the Colts’ anemic pass rush.

Johnson has spent time with the San Francisco 49ers (2014), Bengals (2013), Cleveland Browns (2012) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2008-2011).
