Lucroy Traded to Rangers

In exchange, the Rangers have given up their No. 2 and No. 3 prospects in outfielder Lewis Brinson and right-handed pitcher Luis Ortiz.

However, Lucroy didn’t shy away from thanking Milwaukee fans for their tremendous support. Ortiz can pump out a 97 miles per hour fastball and could land himself a starting role for Milwaukee in the near future.

The Rangers have only announced one roster move to make room for the new acquisitions: putting Prince Fielder on the 60-day DL to make room for Beltran.

“I don’t know if we necessarily pick out finite milestones”, Stearns said when asked if the latest deals moved the Brewers closer to the next phase of rebuilding. He led the National League with 53 doubles in 2014 – earning his first career All-Star appearance – while hitting 0.301/0.373/0.465 with 13 long balls and 69 RBIs. “We also would like to thank Jeremy for his contributions to the Brewers, particularly his admirable work as a first-time closer this season”. There is a strong correlation between the big-name players getting traded and the teams contending for playoff spots at the top of their divisions. So far this season, he’s shown some of his power, batting.237/.280/.431 with 11 home runs and 40 RBI. Right-hander Jeffress, 28, is 2-2 this season with a 2.22 ERA in 47 appearances. If someone can make an argument that Lucroy is not the best catcher in franchise history, I’d be interested to hear it. Stearns said his cellphone kept buzzing even after Lucroy nixed a deal to the Cleveland Indians on Sunday. The team practiced under the lights at Ray NItschke Field last night. The 39-year-old switch-hitter is batting.304 with 22 home runs and 64 RBIs. If he can stay healthy, cut down on his strikeouts and develop his tools, Brinson is a good defensive glove with 30-30 potential. Brinson was the team’s 2012 pick, Ortiz was the team’s 2014 selection and Tate was the fourth overall pick in 2015.

“It’s very important that we’re here together”, Jeffress said.

Lucroy posted on his verified Twitter account that he’s “moving on” to the Rangers and “can’t wait to get after it”.

“The club informed me and the player understood clearly that they were making every effort to trade him”, Katz told the AP, “and that if they were unable to come to terms with another club on a trade – and successful in acquiring another outfielder – that he likely would be demoted”.

Erik Swanson has a career record of 8-6 with an ERA of 3.98 in 2-and-change years in the minor leagues, as high as AA. Moore has pitched 130 innings and has a 4.08 ERA thus far on the season.

Lucroy, 30, batted.284 with 79 HR and 387 RBI in 805 games during seven seasons with the Brewers (2010-16), including.299 (101-for-338) with 13 HR and 50 RBI in 95 games this season.

The trade deadline has passed, but the Brewers could still make more transactional moves – the players must first clear waivers, though, which makes it more hard – and they likely will, given wheeling-and-dealing Stearns’ active track record.
