‘Ludicrous Mode’? Tesla Model S adds another power boost
It would be a car built on a new platform, not an upgrade of the Lotus Elise-based Roadster Tesla launched in 2008, Musk said during a phone-in press conference on Friday. That translates to a roughly 5 percent annual increase in range. For Tesla Model P85D owners, the upgrade will only cost $5,000 plus installation costs, with the reduced cost offer available over the next six months. TechCrunch reports that Tesla CEO Elon Musk said, “It’s faster than falling….” A battery is made up of two electrodes-a cathode (positive) and an anode (negative)-and a medium, called the electrolyte, through which the electric charge flows. The Tokyo Motor Show will be held from November 22 to December 1.

The Tesla model that has Ludicrous mode will top out at an electronically limited 155 miles per hour. After incentives and gas savings, that price will be even lower. Tesla ended the first half with 21,552 delivered, or about 40 per cent of the target, as reported by a preliminary count. And you have to pay an extra $10,000.
As a result of the speed enhancement, the Ludicrous Mode version will be able to accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in barely 2.8 seconds; thereby completing a quarter-mile dash in just 10.9 seconds.
Like driving fast? Tesla has something new you’re going to like. Instead of a standard fuse that just melts past a certain amperage, requiring a big gap between the normal operating current and max current, we developed a fuse with its own electronics and a tiny lithium-ion battery.
As for the name, “Spaceballs” the comedy movie from Mel Brooks provided the inspiration. What little surprises the company has in store for its forthcoming Model X, we’ll soon find out.
Tesla is running slightly behind schedule in preparing a new version of its operating system software, Musk indicated.

Pre-order customers for the Model X were beginning to get vocal, with the vehicle already delayed on a couple of occasions.
